What I didn't Know about the Holy Quran

  • The meaning of the word "Qur'an" - That which is Read.
  • The place where the Qur'an was first revealed - In the cave of Hira (Makkah)
  • The night which the Qur'an was first revealed - on Lailatul-Qadr (Night of the Power)
  • Allah revealed the Qur'an through Angel Jibraeel (Alaihis-Salaam)
  • The Qur'an was revealed to the "khaatamun Nabiyyeen" (the last of the Prophets), Prophet
  • Muhammed (Sallahu Alaihi Wasallam), when he was 40 years old.
  • The conditions for holding or touching the Qur'an - One has to be clean and to be with wudhu (ablution)

    Surah At-Taubah was revealed without the Bismillah, and it is believed it was due to the fact that Allah talks about His wrath and punishments in that Surah. Starting the Surah with 'Most Compassionate, Most Merciful' would be contradictory.
